Description

Dalia Winery, under the stewardship of winemaker Kristina Lukić, is revitalizing Serbia's Negotin Valley, an area rich in viticultural heritage. After studying viticulture and oenology at the University of Udine and gaining experience in Sardinia and Beaujolais, Lukić returned to Serbia to craft authentic wines that reflect the region's unique terroir.

The 2022 'Kos' Merlot exemplifies this dedication, offering a deep red hue with purple edges. On the nose, it presents typical Merlot characteristics of ripe plum and dark cherry, underpinned by dried herbs and oak spice. The palate is generous yet delicate on the finish, showcasing complex cherry tobacco flavors coupled with fine acidity. This wine embodies the elegance and fruit purity of the 2022 vintage and, like all Merlots from the estate, is expected to age gracefully, gaining complexity and suppleness of tannin over time.

The Negotin Valley, located in eastern Serbia's Timok region along the Danube River near the Romanian and Bulgarian borders, boasts diverse microclimates influenced by the Danube and surrounding mountains. This unique environment contributes to the distinct character of Dalia's wines, with the 'Kos' Merlot standing as a testament to the region's potential and the winemaker's expertise.
